Mrs Jane L. McPherson, MICHT, MAR, AOR, HND in Complementary Therapies

Jane McPherson opened Soul Soother Therapies in 2004. She is a fully qualified HND complementary therapist, including clinical reflexology, aromatherapy and advanced massage. Her studies have included attending Moray College in Elgin, Scotland full time for two years. Facials, manicures and pedicures were included in her training which allows her to provide a wide range of treatments to the client.

After graduating her knowledge was furthered by completing a post-graduate course in aromatic acupressure and meridian massage with The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy. Jane has received personal tuition from the reflexology guru, Dwight Byers, as well as studying Vertical reflexology focusing on the skeletal and endocrine systems.
She is also a Full Member of the Association of Reflexologist, the Federation of Holistic Therapists, the Guild of Child and Infant Massage instruction and has a DDC certificate for her baby massage instruction course.

She gained valuable experience in the beauty and Spa industry at Skibo Castle, Dornoch, using Clarins products as well as running a complementary therapy clinic in the Highlands.

In 2005 Jane moved to Masham, North Yorkshire with her husband. She set up the Treatment Rooms at Swinton Park, Masham, where she is senior therapist and holds a private clinic for complementary therapies in the village. Jane is a member of the Reiki Association as a Master, who teaches Level I, II and Master Level, locally or on request nationwide. To support her teaching she has completed the City and Guild 7407 qualification for adult education, accredited by Leeds University.

Jane decided to combine her energy and massage skills by studying the original hot and cold stone massage, LaStone therapy. Led by Jayne Scrivener, the pioneer who introduced LaStone therapy to the UK from its origins in Tucson, Arizona, USA. Jane has gone on to study the Deep Science LaStone course, which concentrates on more sports style injury or very congested muscles, elongating the muscles, striping them of excess lactic acid and improving range of movement. To compliment her LaStone energy work she qualified in Crystal Light healing with Amile, LaStone, USA in 2007. This opened Jane up to the healing potential of crystals and their flexibility to be incorporated into several treatments. Jane hence furthered her studies to a more comprehensive level of an ACHO Crystal certificate. Mary Neilson the pioneer who initially developed the LaStone therapy in America now incorporates crystals in her advance work, which is Jane’s favourite medium to help her clients balance mind, body and soul. Thermo-Auricular therapy (Hopi-Ear) another treatment adapted from a native Indian tribe in America, is excellent for ear, nose and throat conditions.

Jane fully supports the Prince's Foundation for Integrated Health's aim of self-regulation of complementary therapies for 2008 and is a full member of GICM, AC, AOR and the Association of Reiki, the leading organisations working towards this in the fields of massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and Reiki. It is hoped that self-regulation will protect clients and be a catalyst for complementary therapies to become a recognised profession amongst the medical field and general public, with a view to integrating health care options.
